What is a plug-in?
Plug-ins are independent small web applications that are hosted separately from Haiilo Home. So, they are technical extensions to Haiilo Home communicating via the plug-in API. In Haiilo Home they are handled as widgets made available via the widget catalog. They can be used in home pages, as global widgets or on pages and communities as local widgets or in an app e.g. blog, content or wiki.
What is the difference between standalone plug-ins and third-party plug-ins?
Haiilo Home offers the option for third-party plug-ins to be integrated. In that case, plug-ins are a kind of interface that is used to connect third-party systems. Accordingly, third-party content is integrated into Haiilo Home and a seamless display of information is enabled without sending the user to another tool. For example, the vacation planning out of an HR system can be displayed directly in a platform. Standalone plug-ins are used to extend functionality without communicating to another software system. An example is a survey plug-in which offers the option for employees to enter their preferences concerning a certain topic and displaying the results in Haiilo Home.
Can plug-ins be used for the Haiilo mobile app?
For now, plug-ins are not available for the native Haiilo Home app.
Are plug-ins available for Onpremise customers?
No plug-ins are only available for cloud and private cloud customers.
Who can develop plug-ins?
Everyone can basically develop plug-ins for Haiilo Home. All you need is technical know-how and follow the guidelines described in the plug-in documentation.
Note:
We don't support own developed plug-ins.
How do plug-ins get updated?
We have developed several product features to make sure update processes are seamless and uninterrupted whenever a customer updates their Haiilo Home. In the unlikely event of a plug-in not working after a Haiilo Home update we automatically disable it. Updates, as well as maintenance of plug-ins, are always the responsibility of the plug-in provider.
How do we ensure plug-in quality?
We have a dedicated Quality Assurance process before providing and selling plug-ins at the Haiilo Marketplace. This process consists out of extensive testing ensuring functionality of a high-quality level. Good to know: Testing and functionality is also part of the obligations plug-in providers have to fulfill if they want to participate in the Haiilo Marketplace.
