Hero Teaser widget is your possibility to place global themes on multiple homepages with little effort.
A Hero Teaser can be placed exclusively at the top position on home pages. Each Hero Teaser consists of a top teaser and additional sub-teasers. Here you can fill up to 5 tiles with your own content in your own design. It is up to you whether you choose related content - as in this example - or independent topics.
Via the drop-down menu of your profile you can access the "Edit layout" mode of your start page. Here you will see the option to add a Hero Widget at the top:
Hint:
In order to place a Hero Teaser with a theme here, themes must be created first and foremost.
The Hero Teaser Widget in the mobile App
Starting with cloud version 44, the Hero Teaser widget is also available for the mobile app. If you are already using the widget, you don't need to do anything else. A home page with the Hero Teaser widget on the desktop will also display it in the mobile version.
If you want to use the Hero Teaser on the desktop but not in the mobile app, you can easily create a home page for desktop use (with Hero Teaser widget) and a home page for the mobile app (without Hero Teaser widget). You can also read more about how to do this here.
Create Hero Teaser
To create themes you need the general right "Manage themes".
In the drop down of your profile you will find the category "Manage Hero Teaser".
Afterwards you will get to the overview page. Currently, you can only manage the themes for the Hero Teaser widget here. To do so, select the corresponding "Topics" field.
In the theme overview you will see the already existing theme blocks and you can create additional themes by clicking the respective button.
Hint:
You can also overwrite existing themes. Here you have to be careful! You will not see in the overview whether a topic is included on one or more start pages.
In the editing mask editors have the possibility to bundle different sources in one topic. Internal and external sources can be linked and added to a topic.
For each topic, at least the top teaser and one sub-teaser must always be filled. You can fill your topic with up to four sub-teasers. There must always be one image per element. Additionally you can:
- insert an alternative text*,
- assign a headline,
- add a subtitle,
- link the element to a link,
- choose whether a new tab opens when you click on the teaser.
*The alternative text is read by screen readers, so the content of the image is accessible to people with visual or cognitive disabilities.
- Use the arrow keys to move sub-teasers.
- Use the trash can to delete individual sub-teasers.
As soon as you have filled the image in the first sub-teaser, the option to add another one appears. When you add an image to the second sub-teaser, the option for a third sub-teaser appears, and so on.
Note:
A sub-teaser without an image cannot be published. The whole theme cannot be saved in this case.
