The function of linking colleagues and thus creating a notification is available in many areas of Haiilo. The general rule is: You can mention colleagues wherever comments are possible.
Mention colleagues
To activate the function, you only need to type in an @ symbol. A dropdown menu with all of the users in your network then opens. The more characters are used, the smaller the selection becomes. In the continuous text, the linking of the colleague is shown as a hyperlink and the respective person also receives a notification.
Mention pages/communities
You can theoretically also mention pages/communities in the comment as markdown formatting is supported there. However, neither pages nor communities are suggested. In addition, no notifications are sent.
Use cases for mentioning
We have some typical use cases here for the marking of colleagues:
- in a timeline post for information
- in a comment to indicate its importance to a user
- in a blog comment if e.g. certain information is important there
- in a wiki comment to indicate e.g. the need for revision
Is it possible to mention people in the continuous text of apps?
This is not possible as the apps in Haiilo work with rich text editors – simple mentioning as in comments is thus not possible.
Two alternative solutions for you:
Two alternative solutions for you:
- You use linking. You mention the name of the person in continuous text. Archive the name and add a link to their profile.
- Alternatively, you can also e.g. add widgets in a content app via the advanced settings and thus directly display a preview of the user profile.
However, no notification is triggered in either of these cases.
Can I also e.g. mention a user via their telephone number?
That’s possible if your admins have configured the profile fields (in this case, telephone number) for mentioning via REST API.
