What is the timeline?
The timeline is a digital bulletin board, on which users communicate and collaborate. You can use timelines globally on homepages, on your personal profile or on pages, in workspaces and in events.
In what order are timeline posts displayed?
The timeline displays all posts chronologically. Sticky posts are displayed at the very top of your timeline, since they are pinned to highlight important information.
Exception: If you share an old post, it moves to the top again.

What is displayed on the timeline of a homepage?
Homepages are quite flexible. By adding a timeline widget to the homepage, you have the option to get all updates at a glance. Here is a short overview of what exactly you are able to see on a timeline:
- posts of users you are following
- shares posts of users you are following
- timeline posts on your own profile
- timeline posts you created on another user's profile
If person A is writing on person B's timeline, then everyone following person B can see it, as well as person B him-/herself.
Posts another person has liked or commented aren't shown only for that reason. This is implemented to keep the information flow clear. You are only informed, when you are mentioned in a post or when you are following the respective post.
Can I change a timeline item after posting it?
Every user can change his/her posts as long as no other user has reacted (share, like, comment) to it.
What happens if I delete a post?
Posts can be deleted by the creator (given that he has the necessary right) or by a moderator. The post as well as all attachments and comments are removed in this case.
This has no influence on notifications, since they are displayed historically.

Who can delete posts and the connected comments?
- Moderators with moderator mode enabled
- Administrators of a page or workspace can delete all posts and comments of the page/workspace.
- Authors of a post can delete it together with the comments.
If this should not be permitted, an admin of the corresponding role can withdraw the global right "Delete Comments" and / or "Delete Timeline Posts" from other users.
What happens to data in my timeline?
The timeline works like a newsticker. This means that it is always up to date. Timeline items from the past can of course also be found, but this is very exhausting without a global search through finite scrolling. It has been deliberately designed in this way. If you want to manage files here, you "get bogged down" quite quickly.
Nevertheless, the files are stored. For this there are the so-called App-Folders. To access these, you need access to the central document library, which you can find in the drop-down menu in the upper navigation bar.

If I post a file in the timeline of a workspace, why is it not stored directly in the file archive of the workspace?
The document app serves to manage and organize documents. If you would mix both functionalities, it could quickly become confusing (like a trashed desktop). Especially in large companies, this degenerates very quickly.
Accordingly, the files of a timeline can only be viewed and, if necessary, managed via the app folder of the central document library.

What happens to timeline attachments when the post is deleted?
The attachments of timeline posts are stored in so-called App-Folders, but are inseparably linked to the respective comment or post. Accordingly, a file is deleted if the corresponding post or comment is deleted.
